THE SARE MILL
The last of the 9 water mills that were fed by the Avort, held by the Lauriou family since 1908 in Gennes-Val de Loire
One of the last water mills in France to produce flour with a stone millstone. The mill of Sarré is the last of the 9 water mills which were fed by the Avort. It would exist since 1143. The Lauriou family has run the mill since 1908 and continues the tradition. In a green bucolic setting, don't miss to stop and see the big water wheel. The restaurant, installed in old stables, allows you to taste the fouées made from this flour, distributed in the shop and to the businesses of the region.
