LA FONTAINE OBSCURE
The association's name was borrowed from a historical novel by Raymond Jean, a writer from Aix-en-Provence and professor of literature at the University of Provence. At the end of 2012, the association moved into 180 m² of premises in the former "La Beauvalle" canteen. It includes a photographic space that hosts a monthly exhibition and a convivial area where members can meet up. Founded in 1979, La Fontaine Obscure brings together amateur and professional photographers, as well as the curious, enthusiasts and collectors. On the first Wednesday of every month, amateurs meet for portfolio readings, but they can also take part in courses and workshops. A meeting place, La Fontaine Obscure is also a gallery open to the general public. In October of each year, it organizes the Phot'Aix festival, a major event in the life of Aix, allowing visitors to wander from one place to another in the city and admire the photographic works of a wide variety of artists.
