Chapel being an important place of pilgrimage in Bargemon, having two altarpieces and a tabernacle containing a statue of the Virgin
Built in 1610, but completed 24 years later for the White Penitents, the chapel houses two altarpieces. The tabernacle contains a statue of the Virgin, carved from a tree in the Montaigu forest (in Belgium), to which miracles are attributed. The statue is made from the wood of an oak tree where, according to local beliefs, the Virgin had appeared. Over the centuries, the site became an important place of pilgrimage, and King Louis XIII even had to organize pilgrimages.
