LA CAVE DU CHÂTEAU DE LAGARDE
At the crossroads of ancient Roman roads, the castle of Lagarde was occupied by the Counts of Provence until the end of the 20th century. Nestled on the hillside at an altitude of 500 m on the heights of Draguignan, this 700-hectare wine and olive-growing estate is now owned by the Belgian publishers Dupuis. They produce high-quality organic PGI wines from the Var in all three colours on 4 hectares of vines and olive oil from 1,000 olive trees: aglandaou, picholine, bouteillan, petit ribier, and frantoio. Let yourself be surprised by their pinot noir red or rolle white medals. In addition to the wines from plots of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Rola and Pinot Noir, and the fruity green organic olive oil, discover the remains of the 12th century castle, dominating the whole region. It is even said that Count John's treasure is hidden on the estate... A small gîte d'étape, adjoining the winery, can be rented during the summer months.
