FÊTE DU RAISIN – FRÉJUS CENTRE HISTORIQUE
Festivities dating back to the Middle Ages, faithfully perpetuated in the streets of Fréjus. Entertainment, folklore, wine mass and tastings.
Entertainment, wine tasting, a parade and a stump dance are the highlights of this festival, which dates back to 1300. One of a kind, the Grape Mass is celebrated on the Sunday closest to the Feast of the Transfiguration. It was Jacques Duèse, bishop of Fréjus, better known as Jean XXII, who instituted an indult, a unique privilege authorizing the archpriest of Fréjus cathedral to press a bunch of grapes, which thus became the blood of Christ.
