NOAILLS VILLA
A temple of modernity transformed into a famous center for art, architecture, fashion, photography and design, located in Hyères.
The Villa Noailles is a must-see in old Hyères. You'll have to go to the heights, and work your legs a bit to get there, but your efforts will be rewarded, for this is a truly magical place, both steeped in history and infused with a certain magic by the management team.
This immaculately white temple to modernity, designed by architect Robert Mallet-Stevens, looks like a series of superimposed cubes, arranged according to the relief of the land and the path of the sun, to offer maximum sunshine throughout the day. The garden features large windows that open onto the landscape, their rectangular shape reminiscent of a picture frame on a wall. Numerous artists lived and created in this extremely comfortable villa, with its many bathrooms, swimming pool and squash court. Abandoned after the death of Marie-Laure de Noailles in 1972, the villa was eventually bought by the town of Hyères and transformed into a center for art, architecture, fashion, photography and design, with workshops for children. It's Hyères' cultural hotspot par excellence.
The famous Hyères Fashion Festival is held here every year, and is frequented by genius designers, some of whom are very well known; Karl Lagerfeld, for example, took part in one of the editions. Every year, the famous Hyères Fashion Festival takes place here at the end of the year.
