PLAIN OF THE MOORS NATIONAL NATURE RESERVE
A nature reserve where you can discover a unique living heritage and two artificial lakes: Lac des Aurèdes and Lac des Escarcets.
At the foot of the northern slopes of the Massif des Maures lies a landscape of "wooded savannah", with large ochre-colored slabs of rock outcropping. Covering more than 5,000 hectares classified as a National Nature Reserve, the Plaine des Maures is essentially covered in scrub, cork oak and majestic umbrella pines. 911 hectares are located at the very heart of the Reserve and belong to the Conservatoire du Littoral. There are two man-made lakes: Lac des Aurèdes and Lac des Escarcets.
