CHARLES QUINT TOWER
A round tower located at the eastern entrance of the city, being the centerpiece of the defense system of the town in the year 1526.
The Notre-Dame round tower, known as the Charles-Quint tower, and its castelet, located at the eastern entrance to the town, was the centrepiece of the town's defence system in the year 1526. It was built in the 13th century. It was in this tower that the inhabitants of Le Muy tried to assassinate Charles V during his invasion of Provence. They mistakenly wounded the poet Garcilaso de la Vega who died a little later in Nice. Be careful, to find the door of the tower, you have to go up to the first floor!
