THE MUSEUM OF ORIENTAL AND WESTERN SACRED ART
Situated in the heart of the village, this Provençal house is now home to the museum of sacred oriental and western art. You will discover a collection of liturgical and religious objects, restored and highlighted by the municipality and two bishops. A distinction completed by the presence of the chapel of Zeïtoun (Saint-Marc) on the path of the Coptic chapel - Fontanieu. The story begins so… Two Orthodox Orthodox bishops, Pastor Marcos and Athanasios, in walking, fell under the charm of the Revest. They found an ideal combination of beauty and serenity, conducive to religious work and meditation. They then decided to install a hermitage, and that is how Le Revest-les-Eaux became the seat of all Coptic Orthodox eparchy in Europe. This is an unknown prestige which is not unusual. Throughout their travels throughout the world, the two arts-lovers have acquired many ancient objects of sacred art: icons, silver centuries, ciboires, chalices, shrines… a multitude of sacred Russian, Coptic, Byzantine and Ethiopian objects. Desirous of sharing their culture, they donated their treasure to the commune.
