This 11 km long lake is a paradise for swimmers, water sports enthusiasts and fishermen

Put in water from November 1973 to April 1975, the lake is fed by the Verdon river which takes its source at the Col d'Allos and runs for 175 kilometres, 30 of which are at the bottom of the eponymous gorges. It owes its emerald colour to micro-algae in suspension. Dedicated to hydroelectric production and irrigation, this lake, which is 11 kilometres long and about 4 kilometres wide, is also a paradise for swimmers, water sports enthusiasts and fishermen. One of the must-see places in the Gorges du Verdon and what a pleasure to swim there!

Ce lac du haut pays varois est magnifique. Les champs de lavande au bord du lac en juin, une escale à Moustiers, une balade à Cheval autour du lac (mais aussi dans le lac) ou tout simplement une balade en pédalo ou canoë vous feront passer de très agréables moments.

Ce lac artificiel est exceptionnel par sa couleur, turquoise opaque. Quelques villages le bordent, ainsi que de nombreux campings. Pour en profiter pleinement, c'est sur l'eau qu'il faut aller. Il y plusieurs sociétés de location de kayaks, pédalos et autres bateaux . L'entrée des gorges et spectaculaire.

Splendide lac d’un bleu turquoise entouré d’impressionnantes montagnes. Le lieu est un véritable paradis sur terre. L’eau douce et transparente atteint facilement les 30 degrés en pleine été. J’y vais tous les ans pour m’y baigner et faire du kayak. Je ne me lasserai jamais de voir un paysage aussi magnifique. Comme quoi, il ne sert à rien de partir loin. La France offre également des merveilles !
