THE BEACHES OF PAMPELONNE
This beach, with its 4.5 kilometers of white sand and 8 access points, is classified as a "remarkable natural area".
Ramatuelle's most famous beach is undoubtedly the Baie de Pampelonne. With its 4.5 kilometers of white sand and 8 entrances, it is classified as a "remarkable natural area". Attracting its fair share of French and international tourists every year, over the years the bay has seen the development of a number of infrastructures to make it more welcoming and accessible. The "beach decree" of May 26, 2006, which reduced the length and surface area of beach establishments from 30% to 20% (they must now be dismantled between November and February), meant that 900 meters of shoreline had to be distributed instead of 1,350 meters, reducing the number of establishments devoted to sunbathing and catering from 27 to 23 on 30 beach lots. Jardin Tropezina, Neptune, Cap 21, Polynésie, Cabane bambou, Indie beach, L'esquinade, Tropicana, Les palmiers, L'orangerie, La Toison d'or, Neptune, Tiki beach and Tiki club retained their right to operate, while prestigious Tropezian hotels arrived in force with the Byblos, La réserve de Ramatuelle and Château de la Messardière, as well as owners of trendy Parisian establishments being allocated a beach. Naturism is permitted on two sections of the beach, and there are 5 sports facilities offering a wide range of water sports, including kayaking, jet-skiing and water-skiing.
Less well known to the general public, Anse de Bonne Terrasse was the stronghold of Ramatuelle's fishermen. Located at the southern end of Pampelonne beach, it is characterized by a 150-meter-long sandy strip. Access is by staircase (approx. 10 minutes from the parking lot), and the beach is unsupervised.
Between Cap Camarat and Cap Taillat, the family-friendly beach of l'Escalet stretches for some 350 meters. Snorkelers will be delighted: mask and snorkel are essential for discovering the seabed. Prefer to stay afloat? Kayak instead!
For lovers of small coves and secret inlets, take to the coastal path. From Plage de l'Escalet to Cap Taillat, you'll find a whole host of magical nooks and crannies just waiting to be admired (and respected!). Smart tip: get there in the morning to play Crusoe! Of particular note is Plage de la Douane at the foot of Cap Taillat: white sand and superb panoramic views...
In conclusion, the ambiences and levels of standing of the various private beaches leave you spoilt for choice.
