Protected bay with several sandy beaches in Saint-Raphael, constituting a Roman military port of great strategic importance.

This small seaside resort and district of Saint-Raphaël boasts a marvellous harbour sandwiched between the peaks of Cap Dramont and La Baumette, with the superb red porphyry cliffs of Rastel d'Agay in the background. This protected bay, popular with sailors at anchor, also offers several sandy beaches. In days gone by, this natural refuge was a strategically important Roman military port, with plenty of shelter. The bay was a favorite haunt of many artists, including writers Guy de Maupassant and Saint-Exupéry.
