COURS LAFAYETTE
Cours Lafayette is the heart of the city. Nicknamed the "pavé d'amour", it is home to the market and numerous cafés and restaurants.
The Cours Lafayette is the main artery of the city. For a long time, it was nicknamed "le pavé d'amour" (the pavement of love), because the Toulon inhabitants used to come and talk to each other there. Entirely pedestrian, it hosts, from Tuesday to Sunday, a very well-stocked Provencal market, which inspired Gilbert Bécaud (from Toulon) to write one of his most famous songs. The whole city meets there to comment on the news of the day. You will find stores of all kinds all along the course and, at the bottom, the baroque church of Saint-François de Paule.
