Youth hostel on the heights of Annecy offering a beautiful view of the landscape.
The youth hostel is an alternative which is not reserved for students and itinerant visitors, but open to all as long as they are members of HI youth hostels. 4 fir trees for a hostel located on the heights of Annecy, enjoying a view of the lake and a very pleasant forest environment. Free parking and shuttle bus to the old town and the train station. Well maintained rooms with 4 or 5 beds with shower and sink, wifi connection, fully equipped kitchen to share, as well as the terrace with its famous view on the mountains.

The staff were quite helpful and i had a room to myself after the first night
I have to say that was a relief because these rooms are a bit cramped if full.
The WiFi only worked in reception and the lounge.
At least there was comfy quiet seating in the lounge area and 2 charging points adjacent.
The lounge was sometimes subject to tv or music playing which possibly detracts from your attempt to watch mobile tv, even with ear pods.
The showers were in the room and separate and are designed to spray a bit too far and have to keep pressing the button
The included breakfast was minimal but in a pleasant dining area with a view of the lake, or al fresco, as you prefer, and the kitchen staff friendly
The hostel was a 25 minute walk from town, and one or 2 steep uphills. I only took the bus on the day i left as it was not that regular.
You can do laundry for 7 euros, including dryer
So I have mixed feelings about this hostel but it was adequate for a few days.
A bit spartan in its corridors, and minimal kitchen facilities. No kettle although there was a hob and microwave
Perhaps a little overpriced for what it was. But still the cheapest place in Annecy
And with nearby woods if you fancy a walk

A éviter à tout prix
Emplacement pas mal, le réceptionniste Nicolas est sympa et serviable.
Par contre l'etat des chambres est catastrophique. La chambre était très petite et pleiiiiiine d'insectes et de cafards c'était un enfer. La nuit quand on essaye de dormir les cafards tombaient sur nous . J'ai même envisagé de dormir dans la voiture plutôt que decsubir tout ça. On en a trouvé dans nos sacs en rentrant donc faites attention
Les douches c'est un autre souci . Pour ouvrir l'eau il faut enfoncer un bouton sans le lâcher sauf que pour prendre la douche il faut les deux mains. Bref c'était un enfer
Un des réceptionnistes était tres désagréable quand on voulait lui demander des renseignements et refuser chaque demande avant même qu’on puisse l’exprimer , mais le plus bizarre c’est qu’un soir il était avec un groupe d’hommes et une femme au parking en train de faire ce qui semble être un exorcisme,
Et pour l'été pas de clim dans la chambre !!!
En gros nous avons beaucoup apprécié la ville mais pas l auberge nous n y reviendront plus jamais.

Une fois mais pas deux… personnel fort sympathique mais infrastructure plus que décevante. Punaises diaboliques (ou punaises des champs) dans la chambre, draps tachés, personnes peu respectueuses du sommeil des autres dans les chambres (malheureusement l’établissement n’y peux rien), douche et toilettes vétustes et d’une propreté douteuse.

The hostel is pretty old and located on a hill, but for the price and just to sleep there, it’s okay. Staff is friendly, you have a kitchen and a terrace which makes socializing with other travelers quite easy.
Unfortunately, the communication with the hostel is catastrophic. I booked a package including two activities in Annecy of which one had to be cancelled. For almost two months now, I’m running after them to get the refund and merely getting any responses to my emails. Sadly, this now ruined my opinion about my stay there.
