THE ISLAND PALACE
This palace, located on a rocky island, is a former prison, now hosting remarkable temporary exhibitions.
This palace, also called "Old Prisons", splits the waters of the Thiou canal with its stone bow. Built on a natural rocky island, this fortified house was in turn a prison - a puzzle game for children makes it a prison today -, a monetary workshop, a courthouse and an old people's asylum. The Palais de l'Île was listed as a historic monument in 1900 and houses the Centre d'Interprétation de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine (Architecture and Heritage Interpretation Centre), as well as a museum tour. The Palais de l'Île hosts remarkable temporary exhibitions.
