ENTREMONT
Entremont manufactures, affines, conditioner and markets baked pasta cheeses - such as emmental - uncooked (raclette) and melted cheeses. A member of the co-op group Soodial, it is now the leader of pressed pasta cheeses.
History. Born in Haute-Savoie, the Entremont brothers - François, Marius and Edouard - were among the first in France to feel the success of the Emmental, a baked cheese cooked cooked. In 1948, they created the eponymous society and launched their activities of refining and trading cheese. To this end, they lowered the emmental grinders and refined them in their cellars in Annecy. From the 1950 s, the company grew and the three brothers expanded their activity in eastern France (mainly in the Jura and Upper Marne) and in Brittany (in Malestroit in 1951 and Quimper in 1964) where there was strong dairy production.
In 1972, they launched the «pre-packaged» and made their first communication campaigns under the brand «Entremont Maître Fromager».
During the 1990 s, Entremont expanded by acquiring several companies: Juragruyère (Emmental and County) in 1993, German company Stegmann in 1996, Euroserum (whey powders) in 2001.
In 2004, Beuralia, a company specialized in the manufacture of dairy products, was created by Soodial and Unicopa. The following year, because of the dismantling of Unicopa, the dairy section was attached to Entremont, and the whole formed the group "Entremont Alliance". At that time, Entremont had six production sites in Brittany: Malestroit, Quimper, Montauban-Brittany, Loudéac, Carhaix-Plouguer and Guingamp, and several subsidiaries, including Cofranlait. This represented 70% of the milk supply for Entremont.
Nourbio was born in 2008 from the rapprochement of Cofranlait and Sodiaal Industrie, subsidiaries of the Groupe Entremont Alliance and the Group Sodiaal, the first French dairy cooperative. This company is designed to develop, manufacture and market infant nutrition and adult nutrition products as powders and bars. The same year, Entremont Alliance took over the cheese factory Roussey, then in 2009 acquired Lactocenter, a subsidiary of Euroerum, and resumed the activity of Fromagerie Via Lacta, which became the cheese factory du Velay.
In 2011, Entremont Alliance is picked up by Soodial and becomes a business unit of the co-operative, specialized in the manufacture, refining, packaging and marketing of baked cheeses (emmental type), uncooked (raclette) and mainly melted.
Products: Tomato of the Pyrenees, ossau-iraty, young cantal, emmental, cantal between two, Gruyère de France (IGP), beaufort (AOP), gold grinding, county (AOP), rebred (AOP)…
Employment. In 2016, Entremont Alliance employs 2,500 employees, with 16 production sites in France, including 7 cheese factories. That same year, the company produced 182 000 tons of cheese and made EUR 1.15 billion in turnover.
