PARABOOT
Access: Between Moirans and Saint Marcellin, on RN 92.
History: Late nineteenth century. It all starts in Izeaux, a small village at the foot of Vercors… Rémy-Alexis Richard, born in 1878 in a family of modest farmers, is a cutting worker at Chevron, one of the 20 shoe workshops that then animated the Iserese village. These workshops work in subcontracting for merchants in the city, buy leather, break it and bring them together home by farmers' families, the surrounding hills, before setting them (nail or sewing) on wooden or leather soles. Rémy-Alexis Richard quickly realized that big city donors earn more money than their own boss. He decided to try his luck and go up to Paris with the drawings of his own models. It is a question of selling them as a "factory agent". And that works! He made his first shoes, for large customers in Paris, by the Izeaux workshops, including the one he just left. In 1908, he began hiring his own staff. Then it's the rise we know. Paraboot is synonymous with shoes made in France, high-end and hand-held. Paraboot is the world leader in Norwegian sesu.
