THE TEMPLE OF AUGUST AND LOVIE
This temple, erected at the beginning of the 1st century BC on the site of the forum, is the jewel of Roman Vienna
Built at the beginning of the 1st century BC on the site of the forum, this temple is the jewel of Roman Vienna. Dedicated to Augustus, then to his wife Livia, it was transformed into a church in the early Middle Ages. Its columns disappeared into the masonry to make it an enclosed building, which allowed it to be preserved. It was restored to its former glory by Prosper Mérimée, who had its columns removed in 1845. Work will soon allow you to visit it.

The ratings and reviews below reflect the subjective opinions of members and not the opinion of The Little Witty.
