Practical information : Going out Sevilla
Timetable
Flamenco shows can be seen from 7pm to 10pm, lasting around 1? hours. For discos, it will be later, as the Spanish saying goes: " no hay ningun ambiante antes de las 2 ", no ambience before 2am. And the party goes on until at least 6am. Then it's time to emerge for the first chocolate con churros. We go out mostly on Fridays and Saturdays.
Budget & Tips
Prices for flamenco shows range from €19 to €35. They often offer preferential student rates. Not discotheques, where entrance fees range from around €10 to €20. A cocktail costs between €10 and €15 on average.
To be booked
To attend a flamenco show, all you have to do is book your place on the day, except at weekends, when it's best to book as soon as you can. On the other hand, during ferias and special events such as Seville's flamenco biennial, you'll need to book in advance, just as you would when booking a hotel. Otherwise, you run the risk of arriving with everything already booked. If you want to attend a show or concert in a major theater such as the Maestranza or Lope de Vega, you'll need to book in advance.
Night transport
On weekdays, buses run until 11 p.m., as does the tramway, from Monday to Thursday and on Sundays, but until 2 a.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and the eve of public holidays. A bit early for Seville's nocturnal rhythm. Otherwise, there's always cabs and bicycles. Things are looking up on the bus front, from Friday to Sunday: traffic runs until 5am.
Age restrictions
The discos are reserved for those over 18 years old, as in all of Spain.
What's very local
Seville is the city par excellence of tablaos, where you can attend flamenco shows, accompanied or not by a meal. You can also see and listen to flamenco in bars, in a more informal way or by attending the peñas, associations of amateurs dedicated to this art. As far as nightlife is concerned, each neighborhood has its own atmosphere and the locals prefer the area near the Guadalquivir River to the more touristy Centro.
Smokers
Like other enclosed establishments, bars, discotheques and entertainment venues are non-smoking.
