This place is our favorite restaurant in SF! We've been there close to a dozen times now. Every single item we've ever ordered was delicious. They also have mulled wine! A big savior for all the people who like European food and have nowhere else good to go in the Bay area

I always try to come back here when I'm in the city. Really good food and Banana heff

I liked this place. Attentive but not rushing service. Good food and portions for the price. First come, first serve, communal options so it feels comfortably casual.

My 2 points of improvement are about seasonings, and it’s probably a personal preference so I didn’t let it ding my rating: having big chunks of dried bay leaves in the red cabbage was unpleasant. I also hate caraway the same way some people hate cilantro, so having it mixed in with the potatoes for me was unpleasant. Besides that… honestly very happy with the food and beer!

Good german food and beer with a bit of "Biergarten" atmosphere.

As an Austrian I must say this place is the closest one in San Francisco to emulate Bavarian culture and food.

A complete selection of beer, classic dishes, and exceptional staff.

My only critique would be to add more flour to the käsespetzl and crisp it up a bit. Otherwise this place is exceptional.

On fridays they serve whole pig knuckle with sauerkraut. Its delicious.
Somehow the inside main space has terrible acoustics and its hard to hear even the person across from you. Their side seating area is fine though.

Der Sauerbraten. So lecker! Most authentic German food I have seen so far in SF

IYKYK Deutches Essen... I'm a lifelong vegetarian and their salad, potato pancakes, Knödel in mushrooms sauce, KäseSpätzle, messy fries are outstanding. Friends love their schnitzel and sausage. Prost!!

Nice, busy staff and very good food - Wiener Schnitzel and Strout. Kruzefix and King Ludwig as decoration elements together with Abraham Lincoln

Weekend brunch menu not my favorite but the dinner meals and beer selection are sehr gut

Lovely German resto/bar in the middle of San Francisco. Feels a bit rustic, but has very clean finishes. It is bench seating so you may get seated with others at the table depending how full it gets.

Great selection of drinkable beer on tap, I was impressed with the creaminess. Nice change of pace from my regular hoppy ca beer. My wife really enjoyed her cider. An iconic feature is the 1L glass boots you can order.

Good food is available too. We can recommend everything we tried: Sausage plate, Spetzle, Deviled Eggs, and a freshly made Pretzel. All of it would be great on its own, but certainly compliments the beer well.

Can't wait to come back again!

Great schnitzel option in San Francisco. The staff is always pleasant and welcoming and the menu is straightforward. They have a good beer selection too and I found a favorite of mine in their list.

Schnitzel is crunchy and super thin, you can ask for "light fry" which brings it out a bit lighter. Add an egg on top and you'll have a hearty brunch. The pretzel and mustard is always a good starter.

Had some great pork knuckle that was perfectly cooked and very filling. The tables are communal and the atmosphere feels cozy yet lively. They have beer flights for beer week and great drink options, and solid food choices. If youre looking for good German food in sf would definitely recommend supenküche!

Easily the best German food in the city. Come for the Jägerschnitzel and potato pancakes, pair with their finest dunkel and you're in for a treat. Communal dining creates a unique and vibrant atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Best Biscuits and Gravy I’ve had outside of Vienna.

If you're browsing reviews, feel free to just go, this place is the real deal! Authentic atmosphere and friendly service, food that will pain you to admit is better than grandma's. Their apps are great, from the potato pancakes to the deviled eggs. Although it's hard to go wrong with breaded & fried meats or mushroom anything for mains, don't sleep on the cheese spatzle either.

Beer list needs no comment (great), and the communal table seating is refreshingly human in the best sense. Most fun when bustling!

When i am in the city this is one of my Favorite places to go. The food is great the staff are always friendly and helpfull... and the beer.. ohhhhhhh the beer... it makes you realize why German beers can be drunk in those GIANT Steins... It is so smooth it almost drinks itself!!

My husband had been here before and liked it but it was my first time. We were seated immediately and the tables and benches were comfortable. My husband wanted a cider that was listed on the menu but it wasn't available. He opted for another cider that was nice and I tried a nondescript rose. We had a very limited brunch menu to choose from so I picked the Rosti and my husband ordered the schnitzel. The Rosti was like sparse hash browns with some toppings. I had been asked how I wanted my eggs but they were very overcooked. The schnitzel was better and more substantial and came with a nice salad. However, the potatoes on the side were cold and not by intention. We also heard that other tables were offered condiments with their Rosti but we weren't offered anything. I would hope that if there are only a few items available for order, those items would be done well.

A quaint German Bierpalast or Bierhalle serving German beers and food with typical German flair. The wurst are amazing as well as the fresh sauerkraut and horse radish. Does get a little crowded and noisy, which is not bad, but is not a cozy dating spot :) Highly recommend this for the American friends that want a bit of German traditional fare. Service is straightforward and to the point. Will for sure be coming back here to satiate my European cravings.

Good ethnic food, friendly service, but quite loud when crowded.

Great spot to grab a beer and good German food. Loved the brunch items (especially the bread rolls with sausage gravy).
