BELONIA TOWER
The tower of Belonia is one of the many residences of Venetian noblemen and one of the most beautiful and best preserved.
Among the many residences of Venetian noblemen, it is one of the most beautiful and best preserved. Dating from the early 17th century, it offers a superb panorama. In the nearby village of Galanado (derived from the French "galant") begins the Livadi valley, the most fertile of the island, where the famous Naxos potatoes are produced. Right next to the Belonia Tower is the amazing 13th century Venetian church of Aghios Ioannis (St. John), a place of worship shared between Catholics (left) and Orthodox (right).
