We stopped at the restaurant (4 adults and 4 young kids) and left after over 3 hours of very bad service and an overcharge on our account. The food, although delicious, took a very long time. After so long we asked for our dessert to come right away even though we weren't yet done the main course... but we still had to wait an additional 10-15 mins after we finished it anyway. We asked for water 4 times and it never came. We let the waiter chose wine for us, our mistake. Ended up with one lower cost glass (what we wanted) but the other glass he served one guest was almost triple the price. The worst is that somehow there were two charges on our credit card. One for the expensive meal - yes we swiped our card... and an additional charge for 32 Eur (45.19 CAD on statement) that we did not authorize or swipe/pay for! It is unknown how they charged us for this. Did they save our credit card info to charge us later?!

Sadly my experience was way below expectations especially for the price paid. Firstly the good points, the location is second to none right in the heart of Bayeux, parking on site great bonus and that is end of the positives I’m afraid.
I had booked this hotel months in advance and I should have checked regarding elevator and rooms as I was travelling with my mother who is in her 80’s. Luckily she is still quite mobile as we had a room on 2nd floor so she had to walk up 4 flights of steps! We were in room 20 which I would advise to avoid at all cost, here’s why. On entering the room you are in a narrow hallway with another door in from of you into the bedroom on your left are sliding wardrobes and on the right was another door into a small cupboard that had the toilet! Which by the way you couldn’t close when you were sat on the toilet as there wasn’t enough room so you felt like everyone going up and down the stairs passed your door could hear you in the toilet. You then had to walk through the bedroom to the opposite side into the shower room to wash your hands - totally unhygienic. The hotel had clearly painted the little hallway and toilet recently as all we could smell in the whole room was paint which kept us awake most of the night that and the sound of people going up and down the stairs and using the toilet in the room above us.
The room was not clean there were hairs on the floor. And it was rather dated.
We were travelling with my dog and the hotel advised us that the dog would not be allowed to accompany us if we dined in the hotel or to breakfast which I found strange in France as usually she is welcomed everywhere. However I accepted this rule but when I asked if we could sit in the bar area (it was cold out and they had a real fire and comfortable chairs and sofas which for my mother would have been ideal) I was told no as the hotel was full. So we had to stay out all evening and when we returned before 10pm there two people in the bar so it wasn’t even full. Then when we checked out and I was asked if the stay was okay and I said disappointing the receptionist asked me why ans I politely told her the reasons which she didn’t address except to say she would have said we were allowed in the bar with the dog. All of this was so disappointing. We stayed in many hotels across France and Spain that were truly dog friendly this hotel is not and was the most expensive on our roadtrip. I wouldn’t recommend and I would not stay again.

An exquisite boutique hotel. Room was beautifully appointed. The bar was cozy with the fireplace going. One of the best breakfasts I've ever had in France much less a hotel!!! Homemade bread and fresh farm eggs. Great coffee machines that you can go back to time and again!!
The service was over the top. Wonderful and it made our stay very special!????????
