The people working here are genuinely the pinical of what customer service should be! They were beyond kind , helpful, and extremely caring, plus professional. I would definitely stay here again! We had a jr suite (p.s. just book it for the sauna alone. It's worth it!!)and the view was amazing. You could see the water and mountains on clear days. It was stunning! It's centrally located to shops and restaurants, the water is not too far either! We had gotten a rental car and parked at the garage that was about 3 blocks away(i believe it was called tardakort? We used the parka app, which was helpfull!) , so it was perfect for us!

Small hotel right in the middle of where you want to be with well appointed modern rooms and a very friendly, welcoming, and hospitable staff.

From the USA, came with 2 other people we all had different rooms on different floors and we all had amazing experiences. Hotel staff was great and they handled any issues we had. The entrance to the hotel is a little ????, as it is a bit hidden in an alleyway but overall the hotel was great, planning to book again in 2024! Virginia at the front desk was amazing!

Small rooms but typical for Europe and Iceland. Service was basic (just one receptionist in the hotel) but they were always friendly. Location is quite good but parking is a huge problem there (even for tours). Overall, was a fairly basic stay but good otherwise.

We had an overall disappointing stay at ion city, despite high hopes and price tag. Arrival was fairly easy although the entrance is very tucked away, luckily our taxi driver pointed us in the right direction (be aware that the street is pedestrian and cycles only). We received a welcome drink which was nice, but that was pretty much where the welcoming atmosphere and experience ended for us.

The room itself was okay but lacking some amenities, there wasn’t really anything you wouldn’t get in a cheaper hotel other than nespresso machine accompanied by pods that had no description on. It was underwhelming for the price, but fine. Not far off a premier inn to be honest.

That was until the evening hit.

The hotel is VERY close to a bar that is open until 3am and has live music every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. And it is LOUD. The noise wasn’t helped by the fact that our window was broken and had a large gap in the bottom corner between the window and the frame. The hotel offered us earplugs and moved us to another room the next day (luckily our two remaining nights fell on the few days when the there isn’t a band next door, I’d be surprised if any room was free from noise on the live music nights) but the receptionist denied the window was broken (you could literally feel the wind coming through and see light!) and generally made us feel like we’d been a huge inconvenience for complaining for the rest of our stay.

We also asked for help booking a taxi and were told “just call one”.

Although the location is handy for getting around, it’s also the hotel’s downfall due to the noise. Reykjavik is a fairly small place, so it’s not essential to stay on the main pedestrian street, next time we’ll go a few streets out to a quieter spot.

Awesome hotel and location. Loved our sauna! The shower is amazing too. Restaurant next door Sumac was a great recommendation from the front desk.

3.4/5

I usually stay exclusively at Marriott properties when I can as they tend to have the best customer service. This Marriott had great service but lacked in amenities.

-Great location on the Main Street of Reykjavik.
-Room was adequate with a great shower/bathroom.
-Poor layout with no real amenities, it appeared to have a small/dark gym in the basement.
-No parking made it tricky to bring all of the luggage to the hotel.

Pay the extra money if you can to stay at Edition.

A great, small hotel in the central shopping district of Reykjavik. Definitely not a quiet or "authentic" location, but near the core sights in town, restaurants, and shopping. The entrance is quite hard to find, but look for the entrance to their restaurant (Sumac), then look for the passageway/alley to the right. There is a black "ion hotel" written about knee high on the glass window.

The lobby is small but staff were very friendly and helpful. Rates were reasonable for very clean and well furnished rooms. Rooms are the larger end of European sizes, with included modern restrooms, comfortable beds, and some nice touches. Rooms face either a shopping street or alleyway, with characteristically interesting (in a good way) nordic architecture. The night club adjacent can be a little noisy on weekends until mid evening, but you should be out exploring at that time anyway.

Rooms run quite warm when we were there in early October. A baseboard radiator under the window has a nob that can be turned to reduce the heat. A heating rack in the bathroom can be turned on to help dry your items.

Lastly, while it doesn't bother me, the icelandic "sulphur" smelling hot water didn't seem to be an issue here. They likely filter their hot water, which I know some may prefer. The water is perfectly safe from the tap either way.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was spacious and clean. Note if your room faces the street, as ours did you can hear people talking in the street as they walk by. For us this stopped about midnight on a Monday night. Great location otherwise. Ps street is fully illuminated all night

The hotel has a great location ,the room was clean and it had a great view. We had to ask for tissues and were given paper wipes and a toilet roll instead.

A coffee making machine was there, but we had to ask for milk, which we were given.

Sauna in the room was great and the welcome sparking wine was lovely .

Good but still need a little improvement!

Compliments:
1.We checked in around 3pm on 17th August. The Asian lady at the reception was extremely professional, polite, friendly and welcoming! Hence we would like to give our compliments to her :)

2. Rooms and bed, pillows, bedsheets are clean and comfortable

3..location is excellent too.

Improvements:

Only 1 feedback, which is the housekeeping can be more details, the teapot n kettle was not clean. There was leftover tea in the teapot n water in kettle .

Also no parking, we have to find the nearest street parking, which is ok for us.

Very small, quaint, clean rooms. No amenities whatsoever. Very gracious staff. No parking. Had to park a half mile away and drag our bags up and down the streets. Back rooms overlook the alleyway which can be a bit stinky with the window open. Lots of shops, bars and restaurants within waking distance.

Hôtel très sympa ainsi que la déco.
Chambre incroyable avec sauna sur terrasse au dernier étage.
Vue imprenable sur la rue principale de Reykjavik.
Chambre spacieuse.
Lit très confortable.
Personnel accueillant, souriant, disponible.
Difficile à trouver car signalisation très peu visite.
Je le conseille vivement.
