Spent several days struggling to book an event space here. The staff did not respond to my emails promptly, left me on hold for long periods of time when I phoned them, told me they would phone me back but didn't, were hard to understand, and impolitely declined my request to bring a birthday cake to this birthday party. After 4 days of slow back-and-forth communications, they told me that in fact a hotel guest had booked the space and I would therefore no longer be able to book it. Very disappointing experience.

As others mentioned before, the best thing about this hotel is the location. We also didn't have the best experience with the staff and felt that we were treated differently as tourists. The towels in the room all had some sort of dirt on them, not sure if it was lipstick, but whatever it was didn't come out in the laundry. There was usually no one at the front desk which we found to be pretty odd and we were told we couldn't have a late checkout as other guests were checking in. After letting them know we were titanium, they changed our checkout time. Definitely not a bang for your buck!

Awesome hotel! Convenient location, an easy walk to all sorts of food, drinks, and shopping. Great sauna and hot tub on the basement level, along with a nice gym.
The front desk staff were super helpful, as was the bartender.
The room was clean and comfortable. The bed, linens, and pillows were perfect.
Parking was limited, but close.

Very helpful and friendly staff. Oli was super nice! Great location. Everything is a short walk away. Only reason for three stars instead of five, is the bloody bathroom design. There’s no door and the toilet is in a glass cube basically in the bedroom. No privacy whatsoever. It was also bit noisy when the night club was plying music but this was rather reasonable on the third floor on the opposite side. Not sure how noisy it gets in other rooms.

Absolutely unacceptable that they could not give me a refund or switch my dates. The person on the phone got my dates wrong and they said they couldn't do anything about it or EVEN give me a refund! Don't go to this hotel, all they care about is taking your money.

Beautifully designed rooms and a fantastic location and view (if you get the bay side rooms). Food options were expensive so suggest going to the town for alternatives. Walking distance to major Reykjavik attractions.

Absolutely ridiculous noise levels for a $600/night rate. The club downstairs was so loud - we couldn’t even drown it out with our white noise machine. You will not get sleep if you stay here. Additionally, for a country with 24/7 sunlight in the summer, they sure haven’t figured out black out shades. Bring an eye mask.

Central to many things and close to bus stop 6 - lively local nightlife!

Lucy was hostess and so helpful with taxis reservations and all the other things that occur during travels. Room was quiet during week and slept with windows open for the night air. No loud noise or traffic noise. Bed comfortable and breakfast was good.

In the middle of a four night stay as this review is being written. Facilities are nice but not nice enough to overcome the constant noise of drunken partygoers from the bar next door until 4:30 am. Apparently the front desk staff don’t attempt to sleep at the hotel because they had very little interest in helping guests deal with sleeping two hours a night in the hotel room they spent $820 per night on. Absolutely horrible from a sleeping and guest service perspective. Wouldn’t stay here again for $80 per night, much less 10x that amount.

The location is the best part of this hotel. The room was spacious but the bathroom area is not suitable for anyone other than couples traveling together. There is no bathroom door and there is a glass shower and toilet area with mirrors along the full wall. The room was extremely noisy most of the night as it is near a busy area and a bar/nightclub. You will need to use earplugs. There were several staff that were unfriendly and rude but others that were nice. If you have a car, parking is very limited with only 5 parking spots allocated to the hotel. There was no availability when we arrived and the staff were rude about the situation and told us to find parking somewhere around town on the street. When asked for help they weren’t forthcoming on questions about how to use the parking meter or helpful with questions about the street signs for parking. The parking meter is finicky and you have to proactively go during parking hours to pay and it doesn’t let you set times in specific intervals. We ended up using an app the following day which charges a service fee. You have to get a hotel parking pass to park in the parking lot but it seemed meaningless as there were 3 cars without a hotel parking pass and they didn’t seem to care or willing to do anything about it. As a Marriott Bonvoy member that was meaningless at this hotel (no mention of it whatsoever).

Great hotel in the heart of downtown.
- room: beautiful, but very simple. No tub, but they have a b&o audio system
- location: it’s not the most popular place, but it’s Iceland what can you say.
- price: it’s not cheap, but then you don’t find it meeting the expectations.
