The campsite is located at the foot of the Skógafoss waterfall, with its spray and noise! There's no store. The location is not quite a haven of tranquility but it is ideal for hikers wishing to join Þórsmörk via the Fimmvörðuháls because the trail starts here.

My friends and I camped here for the night and parked next to the restroom/bathroom area. Once you paid for camping for the night, the restroom fees are included in your camping fee; however, if you want to shower, it is another fee you must pay. All the basic things you need are here, such as restroom use!

A bare bones campground - in winter season, the field is roped off and you just park in the gravel parking lot. The bathrooms are open, as are the showers and outdoor dish washing station with 2 separate sinks. They do have a hose for refilling water jugs. The caretaker comes by in the evening, maybe 7-9pm, to take out the trash and clean the bathrooms. When we arrived around 5pm, there was no toilet paper in the bathrooms and they were pretty gross; the caretaker refilled the TP and cleaned them up a bit. My recommendation is to park pretty far away from the road in and out, because other vans arriving on the gravel makes a lot of noise.

The worse campsite in our entire trip in Iceland! Nasty restrooms and showers, the shower fee is such a joke, and beware: no coins = no shower! It’s coin operated and 400 ISK for 5 minutes (even though you pay a campsite fee already).
This is a parking lot, not a campsite! I’d say this is just a tourist trap!!
The view of the falls is the only positive thing!
Stay away if you can!
