SANT'ANNA CHURCH
This church, located in the heart of the village, has been one of the island's landmarks since it was built in 1850.
This pretty and simple church, in the heart of the village of Porquerolles, is one of the island's emblematic monuments. Built in 1850 by the military administration to serve as a chapel for the garrison installed on the island, it became a parish church in 1929. The interior decoration of the nave deserves special attention: there is an impressive Way of the Cross carved with a knife in blocks of walnut. A remarkable work signed by Joseph Wargnier, a soldier of the 57th Battalion of Africa convalescing on the island at the end of the 1860s.
