HORSE OF THE SHARK
A fort for up to thirty men, built to defend the island in the event of an attack by the British navy.
Built under Napoleon III to defend the island in the event of a British naval attack, Fort du Lequin is located near Fort de l'Alycastre and its eponymous bay. It could accommodate 30 men. From here, you can enjoy views of the surrounding coastline and beaches. Decommissioned at the end of the 19th century following the commissioning of Fort de la Repentance, the site has been fully managed since 2005 by the Conservatoire du Littoral, which was assigned the site by the French Ministry of Defense. To the right of the fort, a path leads to a beautiful cove.
