Established in 1925, Lobster was originally a small restaurant with 60 seats and up to types of fish. In 1989, the small shop leaves out to the great dam of the inhabitants. After a long decade, the Lobster finally reopened in 1999 and became a renowned place with history. The chowder clam is delicious and the seafood is well cooked, but it is true that you come here to admire the sun on the pier of Santa Monica.

The view is great but food not so much, lack of flavor in 2 of the four dishes I ordered and also expensive for what it is! :(

Always a good time here with an amazing view. I appreciate that the by-the-glass wine list is not your standard low quality fare, they do a decent job and there are some good options.

Better than anticipated and worth the trip. Situated right over the Santa Monica pier with a view of the Santa Monica mountains, downtown, and coastline (perhaps the best restaurant view in all of LA), the Lobster looks like one of those high visibility restaurants that probably rests on its laurels as a glossy tourist trap. But the Lobster earns its keep. The food and service are both exceptional.

My girlfriend and I went for Valentine's Day last night--a challenging day for any restaurant--and they over-delivered. Our server was kind, professional, and well informed about the menu, and every single dish we had was better than I thought it would be. A rare accomplishment. If you're going to do the Santa Monica thing, you gotta eat at The Lobster at Sunset. Everything was good but the highlights were the Charred Octopus and the Lobster.
