This place still owns the best view in Sta Monica. Food is good. Non lobster dishes need some improvement.

Además de un lindo sitio, se disfruta de muy rica comida.

I was contemplating where to position this restaurant on my lists, well, the food is good and very well presented, but I wouldn’t say it’s the best, besides the lobster Mac and cheese, that one is of the charts, I can’t deny.
The hamachi crudo and yellowfin tartare were fresh, but the sauce on the yellowfin did not keep up with the dish.
We ordered the lobster, that I would give it a 5, it’s the house specialty.
The black chitarra pasta was good, but needed something in the sauce.
Overall, it’s good food, but preserving those exquisite places, I am happy with the review I just did.
If you’d like a nice sunset view, go for a table near the window.

It is a phenomenal experience with a wonderful waitress, Ms. CJ. The atmosphere was tranquil, and the cuisines were top notch. I appreciate the prompt services, and it was too difficult to leave such a beautiful restaurant. Hope you enjoy as much as my family did!

Great food, attentive waiters, and beautiful ocean view.

We had an early dinner at the bar to watch the sunset. The bartenders were friendly and helpful, steering us to the beef cheek tacos, margaritas and crab fried rice. We also had the spiney lobster, octopus and caviar.

Everything was timed well and delicious! The margaritas required a second round and we almost (almost) forgot about the sunset!

View is good, service is good but it is super pricey. It costed me $300 there. I am not sure it is worth the $300. Check the price before go there. Also they offer free parking if you dine in there.

We took my mother in law to The Lobster for her 80th birthday. When we arrived, she had a special need to accommodate. The hostess (not too friendly unfortunately) told us she would have to call the manager. The manager, Amanda, was so incredibly kind. Without having to go into too much detail, I think she understood the situation and was so gracious in accommodating us. Our server, Elijah, was also amazing. He made our time there really fun. The view of the sunset was incredible and food was outstanding but we really owe Amanda and Elijah all the credit and the biggest thank you for making it such a special night for our family. Will definitely be back. Also, the seared mushrooms and herbed noddles were amazing!

Will be glad to never visit again

The view is great but food not so much, lack of flavor in 2 of the four dishes I ordered and also expensive for what it is! :(

Always a good time here with an amazing view. I appreciate that the by-the-glass wine list is not your standard low quality fare, they do a decent job and there are some good options.

Better than anticipated and worth the trip. Situated right over the Santa Monica pier with a view of the Santa Monica mountains, downtown, and coastline (perhaps the best restaurant view in all of LA), the Lobster looks like one of those high visibility restaurants that probably rests on its laurels as a glossy tourist trap. But the Lobster earns its keep. The food and service are both exceptional.

My girlfriend and I went for Valentine's Day last night--a challenging day for any restaurant--and they over-delivered. Our server was kind, professional, and well informed about the menu, and every single dish we had was better than I thought it would be. A rare accomplishment. If you're going to do the Santa Monica thing, you gotta eat at The Lobster at Sunset. Everything was good but the highlights were the Charred Octopus and the Lobster.

Ordered the 3 lb lobster dinner. The salad n mashed potatoes were great. Well! When the lobster came I had to regain my composure because it was barely 1.5 lbs in size. How stupid do they think the public is???? I complained to the waitress and then the manager. I also requested that it be dressed with paprika. Instead they used some strange spice on it. . They assured me the lobsters are weighed for accuracy. I’ve eaten lobster all my life and I can easily tell it’s weight by sight. It was a joke. Especially when the manager said that he’ll run it by the chef. Well he went and never came back. I don’t know what you’ve ordered from here before but if you’re thinking of ordering lobster forget it unless you want to get ripped off!!!!!!

My husband and I just left. I am so glad we decided to ignore the negative reviews. Our experience was awesome! From the moment we arrived and informed them of our reservation until we walked out the door. Our evening was uneventful. While being escorted to our table, we received a cheery welcome and Happy Valentine's day from the gentleman bending over behind the bar. It looked as if he was putting things away, however he was attentive enough to acknowledge us.THE FOOD...AWESOME!!! CJ, girl your customer service was superb. For it to be Valentine's day, you didn't miss a beat! Thank you lady. As we left, another gentleman acknowledged us, say Happy Valentine's day and have a good night. All while he's moving things off of the cocktail tables.
Worth every damn dollar!!!
Valet was even kind.
No complaints here. We plan to return soon and will definitely provide an update.

The food is very very salty. The unfriendly waiter made our meal unpleasant. It's too precious to give tip to them. Bread is too hard to chew. Price isn't reasonable. I don't wanna go there again!

La nourriture était très bonne, très bon service également et chouette atmosphère avec de la bonne musique pas trop forte

It was overpriced and overhyped. The food is not good, not memorable at all. You are paying for the location being walking distance from a lot of the hotels. A tourist trap, in my opinion. The view and the ambiance are pretty good, though.
