Fortified monastery perched on the heights with a magnificent view of the city and the neighboring islands.
Perched high up with a magnificent view of the town and neighboring islands, this fortified monastery (Μονή Αγίου Ιωάννη Χρυσοστόμου) of dazzling whiteness could date back to the 13th century. It's a skite, a hermitage, still occupied by two nuns who gladly welcome visitors. It took on its present form in 1750, with its small, thick wooden entrance gate(dokarofrakti) to defend itself in the 18th century against raids by Latin pirates.
