BYZANTINE MUSEUM OF NAXOS
Museum with a rich collection of sculptures from the 7th to the 12th century.
The museum houses a rich collection of sculptures dating from the 7th to the 12th centuries, from Byzantine churches throughout the Cyclades. The museum is housed in one of the most imposing buildings in the Naxos kastro, the Glezos Tower, the sole survivor of the twelve towers that once encircled the old town. Four storeys high, it offers a breathtaking view of the harbour. The door is surmounted by the carved coat of arms of the Barozzi and Crispi families, the former owners. The tower bears the name of Petros Glezos, its last owner, who donated it to the archaeological service.
