MONASTERIUM POORTACKERE * * *
Unusual hotel in a former neo-gothic monastery built on a beguinage with cosy rooms, chapel with beautiful stained glass windows
What an unusual hotel! A former neo-Gothic monastery, built over a 13th-century beguinage. It exudes calm and serenity. Decorative codes play on the past, with huge, arty portraits of beautiful nuns, candles reminiscent of candlesticks, statuettes under glass cloches... The rooms are cozy and inviting, with plenty of cushions and a contemporary yet understated decor. The chapel is magnificent, with beautiful stained-glass windows. Breakfast is served in the garden, which is a marvel. An original favorite at Catholic prices.

Made us pay for breakfast we never had, quoting published policies that they could not show us on request, and not one kind word but staff (and management) being very aggressive towards me.
But the building is cool, just go and have a look, stay in one of the better places more central in Gent
