ARBUTUS DOMAIN
Situated under the same latitude as Cape Corsica, the strawberry area falls smoothly from the peak of the island (138 m) to the sea. The result is a large floristic panel characteristic of Mediterranean island vegetation, composed of tall maquis, low maquis, lawns, a coastal bush and a coastal border. The top maquis spans most of the reserve. Composed of strawberry, tree heather, wide sheet wire, nerpruns, mastic and other myrtle, it has an interesting botanical feature: In the course of the ages, it came to replace the entire green oaks, the result of the Mediterranean forest, fallen under the flames of the fires repeated, or under the blade of the loggers. With its 20 ha, the voluntary nature reserve is a pleasant promenade. A nature trail, set in a health course, is punctuated by 14 theme stations. From the top of the village to the circus's circus, the wild fauna and flora, as well as the remnants of old coals, are discovered by a few different viewpoints. Open the eye, because some of the species you will cross are particularly rare. This is particularly the case with the small marsh, a plant of the family of rubiacées that is found in the low maquis and endemic to the islands of Gold. The romulée of Florent, a small. plant endemic to the Levant Islands, Port Cros and Cape-Bénat on the shores of the Moors, will also be met on the coast. Its fleeting flowering in April gives beautiful purple flowers to bright yellow pistil. From a faunistique point of view, the plant diversity of Strawberry is a real boon for animal species: birds, insects, reptiles and other amphibians found shelter there. It includes the Sardinian discoglosse, a discreet king of the reserve, unfortunately threatened with extinction: this small, golden frog with a golden eye is common to the freshwater and brackish ponds at sea.
