Solvangur is above all a family story and a genuine passion for horses. Little house in the meadow, Icelandic version.
Solvangur is above all a family story and a genuine passion for horses. Elsa and her husband Pjetur, a francophile, and their daughter Sigga offer nice cottages with a wide view, almost no cars on the horizon, in the middle of a peaceful countryside. Possibility to visit the stable where beautiful Icelandic horses live happily. An ideal place for couples or families, surrounded by dogs, cats and the 60 horses.

A wonderful, family-run yet extremely professional place. Our trip was a bit last-minute; I saw this place on Google maps, and thought it would be the perfect place to stay and ride with my young daughters if I was lucky enough for them to have an opening—and they did!
The cottage was warm, clean, cozy and fully outfitted. Waking up to horses outside our window was a treat!
We all loved the stable tour — getting to meet prized show horses, ask lots of questions of the expert trainer, and the girls loved helping to brush the horses.
The ride was their favorite thing in Iceland! The weather was rough and we were so lucky that they have an indoor arena.
Thank you so much for taking us in on short notice!!

Experienced, patient instructors and lovely horses. Since they aren’t so many hands tall as some breeds, the Icelandic horses are perfect for people that don’t like heights, and their calm nature is ideal for beginners too. My daughter had a great time! She also bought a bracelet so she can see and remember the movement of different gaits. We also stayed at the guesthouse which was so peaceful. You may even be greeted by a friendly dog.

Thank you for the great time with you and the Dansk Girls on the farm. For those who want to learn anything about Iceland horses and much more, the place to be in Iceland.
For those who have time after riding, as we did, enjoy the coffee and chocolate and learn to appreciate the local culture and who want can pet Jonny Cash.
Sigrídur speaks English, Icelandic and German fluently.
The recommendation!
