Simple table in Chalon-sur-Saône offering atypical proposals and a menu of the day at small price with meats.
Le Verre Galant has had its heyday, and has lost some of its former panache, but it is still a pleasant place to eat in the square. Recognisable with its green front, it has kept its old bistro look with its gingham tablecloths and wooden chairs. A simple table with atypical proposals and a menu of the day to eat at low prices. The specialities here are the old-fashioned casseroles, with calf's head, gargantua (andouillette) or fisherman's head and also the cheese gratins, with baked camembert, chicken (chicken and chanterelles) or trainiaud (snails). In summer visitors enjoy the superb view of the square and the Saint-Vincent cathedral. They also appreciate the salad menu and the brasserie service at all times. Wines by the glass are very affordable and in short it is an address to eat copiously at a lower cost.
