Chaired by Sébastien Martin Le Grand Chalon is an entity grouping together 51 municipalities. Located at the heart of a major road, river and rail network, the community of communes is a strong transit, commercial and tourist sector. A diversity of landscapes that is a strength that it defends fervently. Sports facilities valued by professional teams, cultural events of international stature and major tourist sites are attracting more and more visitors. The actions carried out by Grand Chalon converge towards a desire for development while placing the notion of respect for the environment at the heart of its projects. In January 2020, the Grand Chalon was awarded the Cit'énergie label by the ADEME (French Environment and Energy Management Agency), which rewards local authorities with climate-friendly policies. Ecomobility with the Yvon application, the creation of green spaces such as the ecological park, a waste prevention programme, the implementation of a territorial air climate energy plan. In this dynamic, the Grand Chalon has launched the creation of a photovoltaic park operational in 2021 and will produce approximately 4.9GWh of green energy.
