CLOCHER DE L’ABBAYE DE BRANTÔME
Abbey of Brantôme to visit, with a bell tower with a breathtaking view, a chapter house and a cloister gallery
Legend has it that the Benedictine abbey was founded by Charlemagne. Initially troglodytic, one can still visit the chapter house where the monastic community met. It is also possible to visit the cloister gallery, which has resisted the restorations undertaken in the 19th century, the abbey church containing the relics of Sicarius, one of the Holy Innocents, and finally to climb the bell tower. The breathtaking view is well deserved as you have to climb 130 steps.

a visit to be completed by a visit by boat, rather that whose departure is on the square of the bent bridge!
Visite de l’intérieur avec possibilité de gravir les 4 étages pour accéder au sommet. Magnifique vue sur les environs. Profiter aussi pour vagabonder à l’intérieur de la ville.
