MOULIN DE COUGNAGUET
This mill, located in a green area of the village of Calès, is still used to make flour
In a green corner of the village of Calès, the mill of Cougnaguet is still in activity to manufacture flour. It was built in the 14th century by the Cistercian monks of the Alix abbey, located a few steps from Rocamadour. Built on the Ouysse river which flows into the Dordogne, this water mill was classified as a historical monument in 1925. Today, Hubert gives tours of the mill and explains how it works: seeing the huge millstone turning to crush the grain by the force of water alone is impressive.
