A magnificent museum on medieval warfare and lifestyle

Built in the 12th century on a rocky outcrop overlooking the confluence of the Céou and Dordogne rivers, this fortress was the scene of many warlike confrontations during the time of the Cathars, the Hundred Years' War and the Wars of Religion. Its collection of weapons and armor, and life-size reconstructions of war machines, provide a rare insight into the art of warfare in the Middle Ages. Self-guided tours include extensive, educational signage. Several themed guided tours are available.

Un chateau incontournable du PERIGORD NOIR pour replonger dans le 12ème siècle du moyen age.
Très agréable l'été à visiter lors de grosses chaleurs.
Les tarifs sont pour une fois raisonnables!!!!!

Un incoutournable du Périgord. Le chateau de Castelnaud vous replongera en plein coeur du Moyen-âge et de la guerre de 100 ans.
Visitez également le chateau de Beynac. Les deux visites se complétent l'une l'autre car les deux chateaux étaient ennemis durant la guerre de 100 ans
