LE SAFRANIER
Saffron is not just a spice that grows in exotic countries. You can find some in our lands and particularly at Pierre Oudot. This former computer scientist from the Parisian region found he had a late agricultural vocation and he had the idea to plant saffron in this region of the Dordogne in wet winters and dry summers. Guided tours ended with saffron scented drinks. The price may seem exorbitant compared with the one charged in supermarkets, but saffron is often powdered while its is delivered in whole dried pistils, cut short, very pure and with recipes. You can find some in the markets of Thiviers, Périgueux and Piégut.
