Day 1: Arrival in the Caribbean

You arrive in Guadeloupe (or Martinique) where you may need to spend your first night. Beyond the lag (5 h in summer, 6 h in winter), you will have to get used to the temperature between 25 and 30 ° C. Choose accommodation located near the airport or port to limit your travel, the ideal area for this transit night being the Gosier.

Day 2: Transfer to Dominica

Steps: Roseau, Portsmouth, Calibishie, La Plaine

It is the departure for the island of Dominica. Two possibilities, you opt for the plane and land at Douglas-Charles Airport 30 minutes later (about 1h30 from Portsmouth and 2h from Roseau by car). If you choose the boat, it takes about 2 hours to reach the port of Roseau. Many accommodations are available between Roseau and Portsmouth on the west coast and also between La Plaine and Calibishie for the eastern part. Take advantage of the rest of the day to find your way around and recover from jet lag, especially if you rent a vehicle (driving on the left requires a lot of concentration at first)! Otherwise, minibus services are very convenient and inexpensive.

Day 3: From Scott's Head to Roseau

Steps: Roseau, Scotts Head

Go down to Scott's Head Nature Reserve, which crosses many peaceful fishing districts. Enjoy an exploratory dive in one of the superb sites of the southern tip and/or discover whales and dolphins. Then go up to Roseau to admire the cathedral, the market square, the botanical garden... There are many catering points there.

Day 4: Morne-Trois-Pitons National Park

Steps: Morne Trois-Pitons National Park, Roseau

Direction Morne-Trois-Pitons National Park. Even if you're not much of a walker, you can't come to the island without some idea of its natural potential. TheEmerald Pool is very accessible and doesn't require you to be sporty. An equally easy-access path leads to the Trafalgar Falls, two waterfalls very close to each other. Between the falls and Roseau (at Wotten Waven), there are natural hot springs. The lunar landscape of Boiling Lake and Desolation Valley are worth the 3-hour walk.

Day 5: Portsmouth

Steps: Portsmouth, Cabrits National Park

Go further north to Portsmouth, a very lively and welcoming city. You will find many small coves for idleness. Head to Cabrits National Park between Prince Ruppert Bay and Douglas Bay, where Fort Shirley is located, a historic site with a beautiful view of the bay.

DOUGLAS BAY / FORT SHIRLEY

Day 6: North of the island

Steps: Kalinago Territory, Calibishie, Pennville

Head north to discover the small villages of Pennville and Calibishie where you can swim and have lunch in one of the many restaurants on the beach. Then continue up to the Kalinago Territory. Some 3,500 indigenous people, descendants of the island's first inhabitants, still make their living from fishing, agriculture and handicrafts in this small 1,947 hectare territory, which was granted to them by the Crown of England in 1903, after a centuries-old conflict. It is possible to stay on site.

Day 7: Return to Guadeloupe

It is the day of the return to Guadeloupe. Do not forget to plan to have the sum of 59 EC$ per person or about 22 euros for the exit tax, especially if you leave from Douglas-Charles airport (because it is still not equipped with an ATM and it is not possible to pay by card).
