Day 1: Between the towers of Munich
Steps: Munich
Spend the day strolling through the historic old town. Rallying point: Marienplatz and its carillon. Make the effort to climb to the top ofSt. Peter's Church for one of the best views of Munich, then stroll along the Viktualienmarkt and enjoy a quality pastry or Bratwurst in a delicatessen adjoining the market. Make your way to the Jewish Museum (visit optional), then enter the gilded,Baroque church of the Asam brothers. Continue along Rosenstraße, then Kaufingerstraße, and finish your cultural tour at the Frauenkirche, the Gothic church. In the evening, dine in a typical Bavarian brasserie at theHofbraühaus or in one of Schwabing's tapas bars.
Day 2: Pinakothek and Nymphenburg Palace
Steps: Munich
Also accessible by streetcar and bus if you don't want to take the car. Morning excursion to Nymphenburg. You'll need to spend a good part of the day there, especially in fine weather. Visit the castle à la carte and enjoy a bucolic stroll through the park. Lunch or picnic on the lawns. Return to the center and spend the rest of the day at the new orold Pinakothek. On Wednesdays, they are open until 8pm. Evening in the city.
Day 3: Residenz/Odeonplatz
Steps: Munich
From Marienplatz, stroll towards the Residenz and Odeon square. On the way, you'll pass the Dallmyar delicatessen on Dienerstraße. Enter to feast your eyes and taste buds. Buy a fine sandwich and enjoy it in the beautiful gardens of the Hofgarten. The benches are numerous and pleasantly crowded. In the afternoon, and especially at weekends or during the vacations, don't hesitate to stroll through the Englische Garten and along the banks of the Isar, whose banks have been renaturalized over the past 10 years. This is where the locals' hearts beat in summer.
