Day 1: Arrival - Kigali International Airport (approx. 30-minute drive)

On arrival at the airport, our guide/driver will welcome you and give you a short briefing before transferring you to your booked hotel in Kigali. Here you can check in and relax as you prepare for the next day's adventure.

Day 2: Transfer - Volcanoes National Park (approx. 2-hour drive)

Steps: Kigali, Parc National Des Volcans

After breakfast, we'll leave the hotel for the Kigali Genocide Memorial Center, which honors the memory of over a million Rwandans killed in 1994. You can watch and listen to video clips of some of the survivors of the incident. Lunch in Kigali, then off to Volcanoes National Park via the magnificent Musanze road, which will take us around 2 hours of good driving, with a nice rest stop. The road is smooth and well-maintained, for which Rwanda is renowned. On arrival at your lodge, check-in, relax and enjoy dinner.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking and Ibyi'wacu cultural village - Volcanoes National Park

After an early breakfast, you'll be transferred to the park headquarters for a briefing on the code of conduct to adopt with the gorillas. You will then enter the jungle in search of the gorillas. This experience lasts between 2 and 6 hours or more, depending on the movement of the gorillas in the forest and the speed of your group. During a gorilla encounter, you'll have 1 hour with the gorillas. After this fantastic experience, you'll walk back to the starting point and return to the lodge for lunch. Later, you'll have a cultural encounter with the gorilla keepers in the village of Ibyi'wacu.

Day 4: Golden monkey trekking and transfer - Lake Kivu

Steps: Parc National Des Volcans, Gisenyi Rubavu

After breakfast, you'll set off on a hike in search of golden monkeys in Volcanoes National Park. You'll meet your guide at the park headquarters before heading deep into the forest. The walk winds through local villages and tea plantations, and the scenery is magnificent. Once you've found the monkeys, you'll have an hour to watch them run, eat and swing through the trees. As with gorilla trekking, the same procedures and guidelines apply to golden monkey trekking, although it's not as hectic as gorilla trekking. Return to your lodge for lunch before transferring to Lake Kivu.

Day 5: Boat cruise and coffee tour - Lake Kivu

Steps: Gisenyi Rubavu

After an early breakfast, you'll be transferred to the coffee tour, where you'll learn more about the coffee experience from harvest to cup, then set off on a boat cruise on Lake Kivu, exploring the lake, before returning to your lodge for lunch and relaxation.

Day 6: Transfer and city tour of Kigali - Kigali International Airport

Today, your adventure comes to an end. After a tasty breakfast, and depending on your flight time, you'll be transferred to Kigali for a short visit to the local market and the Kimironko art gallery, then for lunch and, later, to the airport for your departure flight.
