MAISON DE LA PIERRE SÈCHE
House with exhibition on the use of stone in rural life
This house presents an exhibition on the use of stone in rural life, particularly in the development of vineyard parcels. The dry stone huts were linked to the activity of the vineyard, which was the wealth of the Céou Valley before the phylloxera epidemic of 1880. Visiting the museum (history, construction methods, reconstructions) is free of charge. A 7-kilometre circuit allows you to visit the 150 dry-stone huts in the town (allow a good three hours), two of which are listed in the additional register of historic monuments. A very good example of this type of construction is located at the exit of the village in the direction of Mas de Cause. A guided hike takes place every Wednesday morning in July and August from 10am to 12pm (duration 2 hours for about 3 km). Meet at the Tourist Office 15 minutes in advance.
