GABARRES CAMINADE
A famous flat-bottomed gabarre, once used to transport goods up the Dordogne to Bordeaux.
The tradition perpetuated by the Caminade family has left its mark on the history of La Roque-Gageac. Now run by Pierre and Christelle, the Gabarre boat trip is back in the limelight. Departing from La Roque-Gageac, you can float downstream on this flat-bottomed boat, once used to transport goods from the Dordogne to Bordeaux. Today's boats are powered by quiet, eco-efficient engines. The 6.5 km trip takes 55 minutes. Audioguides in 8 languages, including Japanese and Chinese.
