BEAUVAIS CASTLE
This château marks a return from medieval to Renaissance architecture, with a long main building featuring tall chimneys.
Christine and her husband struggle to maintain and bring to life the Château de Beauvais, which they live in year-round with their 5 daughters, who will hopefully support them in their efforts. A fundraising campaign has been launched on the Internet to help them restore this family property. The roofing work is now complete. However, work remains to be done on the stables, outbuildings and park boundary walls, as well as restoring the exterior of the château and some of the rooms open to the public. The owners also wish to bring the formal gardens back to life. This château overlooking a small valley is part of a group of houses with a close history. It is flanked by 2 machicolated round towers. Built by the Faure de La Roderie family between 1533 and the end of the 16th century, it marks a return from medieval to Renaissance architecture, with a long main building featuring high chimneys, mullioned windows and thick, conical-roofed towers. The dovecote and covered well decorate the wooded grounds. The main entrance portal is the focus of the 2021 renovation program, so the tour route has been modified. All tours are accompanied by a member of the family, who encourages exchange with visitors and the sharing of the object of their passion. The tour lasts about an hour and now includes the former cellars, the former pantry and the dining room, which has been completely redone.
