ABRI DE CAP BLANC
Shelter that contains one of the greatest masterpieces of monumental sculpture in the Upper Paleolithic art in Marquay.
Discovered in 1909 and declared a World Heritage Site in 1979, the Abri de Cap-Blanc is one of the greatest masterpieces of monumental sculpture in Upper Paleolithic art. The reliefs, executed with flint picks and percussion techniques, are awe-inspiring, so much so that the animal seems to emerge from the limestone wall. The remarkable carved bestiary occupies 13 of the shelter's 15 meters. Bison, ibex, bears, reindeer and, above all, horses are all on display. Bookshop on site. Heritage workshops on reservation.
