COULONGES CASTLE
Take the opportunity to visit a preserved medieval castle right next to the Lascaux caves and the Vézère valley.
Château de Coulonges, dating from before the 13th century, is a feudal edifice with corner towers, surrounding walls, a parapet walk and moats. Its buildings form a compact whole, combining the solidity of a medieval fortress with the grandeur of the stately home it became in the 16th and 17th centuries. Following restoration work carried out under the aegis of Bâtiments de France, the château is now open to the public. Visits, limited to 6 or 7 people for safety reasons, last between 20 and 25 minutes.
