PAPETERIE DE VAUX
The Vaux paper mill stands on the site of ancient forges known since the century, on a tributary of the Auvézère river
Papeterie de Vaux is located on the site of old forges dating back to the 17th century, on a tributary of the Auvézère, with the blast furnace forge a little further downstream. In 1861, the two forges were converted into a paper mill, producing the famous "butcher's paper" from rye straw pulp. Today, it's the last mill in Europe to boast a perfectly preserved production line from that era. Listed as a historic monument, it has been restored and converted into an 800 m² museum space.
