BARRIER CASTLE
Château built between the and centuries. Its pretty park with Gallo-Roman ruins is open to visitors.
Built between the 12th and 16th centuries, the château belongs to the city of Périgueux. Now in ruins, it is protected as a Monument Historique. Fief of the Barrière family, the château was built on the Gallo-Roman enclosure built at the end of the 3rd century to protect the city: together with Puy-Saint-Front, it later formed the town of Périgueux. Nicknamed "Château B.", it was partially destroyed by the Huguenots in 1575. Outside the château is a pleasant park open to visitors!
